Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, is a dental procedure that removes infected or inflamed pulp (nerve) inside the tooth. The goal of the treatment is to save the tooth, alleviate pain, and prevent the spread of infection.

Steps of Root Canal Treatment

Diagnosis: The first step is always a correct diagnosis, likely requiring an X-ray. Root canal treatment is typically performed when the pulp becomes inflamed or necrotic due to infection. Patients with acute inflammation may experience severe, stubborn pain.
Access and Cleaning: After administering anesthesia, the tooth is opened to access the pulp chamber. A hole is made in the crown of the tooth through which the root canals are cleaned and disinfected.

Purposes of a Cofferdam

Patient Safety: It protects patients by preventing them from swallowing or inhaling dental materials, such as filling substances, disinfectants, or small tools.

Loupes (Magnification Glasses)

Loupes are available with varying magnification levels, typically ranging from 2.5x to 5x, making them ideal for root canal treatment and other intricate dental procedures. Some loupes also feature built-in lighting to further improve visibility.
