Composite dental fillings offer a modern and aesthetically pleasing solution for restoring teeth affected by decay or damage, blending seamlessly with the color and texture of natural teeth. These fillings meet not only functional but also aesthetic demands, making them almost unnoticeable.
Thanks to their wear resistance and strength, composite fillings are now perfectly suited for restoring molars as well. Their hardness closely matches that of the enamel. The filling material is initially soft and hardens under light. After proper preparation, the dentist reconstructs the missing parts of the tooth by layering the material. A UV lamp emitting 450-nanometer light is used to achieve a chemical bond, hardening the soft composite material. The illumination lasts for 15-20 seconds, resulting in a material as hard as natural tooth tissue.
These materials match the color of natural teeth extremely well, making the filling nearly invisible. Aesthetic fillings are an excellent alternative to traditional amalgam fillings since they are metal-free and more visually appealing.
Advantages of Aesthetic Composite Fillings
Care
With proper care, aesthetic fillings can last a long time. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential. Over time, these fillings may discolor, especially if the patient frequently consumes staining foods or drinks like coffee, tea, or red wine, but this is often easily removed.
Fiberglass reinforcement is an increasingly popular solution in fillings and dental reconstructions, offering new possibilities in dentistry. This technology is particularly useful in cases of significant tooth damage or when long-term stability and durability are crucial for fillings.
Fiberglass reinforcement involves the use of thin fiberglass fibers or materials embedded into the tooth, filling, or reconstruction. These fibers increase the strength and resistance of the tooth structure while also providing flexibility to help prevent further cracking or fractures.
Dental inlays, onlays, and overlays are restorative solutions used when decay or damage is too extensive for a simple filling but does necessitate a full crown. These restorations are crafted with precision to fit the damaged tooth perfectly, restoring its function and aesthetic appearance.
After removing the damaged tooth material (preparation), a digital imprint is taken using an intraoral scanner. Based on this impression, the dental technician creates the restoration. The inlay which has a perfect sealnis bonded to the incomplete tooth using a special adhesive, forming a very strong chemical bond between the restoration and the tooth. At our clinic, inlays are made from monolithic zirconia or composite materials.
